therefore, I formed a corporation in the state of IL prior to the business closing date. The owner of the business breached the contract and backed out the day of the closing, and I have done nothing with my "corporation" since that time. Now, I am in negotiation to purchase a different business - so my question is: Do I need to form a new corporation for that business or can I use the corporation I formed earlier this year? My original corporation of course generated no sales, taxes, etc. Any insight would be appreciated....

My uncle filed for a protective order against my Dad in family court saying that he was physically abusing my grandma and threatened his life, which my Dad claims was never said. My Dad claims he yelled at my uncle, telling him that he was a lousy, no good drunk but my Dad never threatened to touch him and the allegations that he is harming my Grandma are obviously false. She may be old but she is sane and can make her own decisions.. . They had their first hearing in family court today and the judge asked them both if they could afford attorneys. Both said no. My Dad has been on furlough from his Union for months now and likely will not be going back to work until the late Spring, early Summer. The judge had both of them fill out a form that made them describe their income and financial situations to determine if they could afford lawyers or not, then said they will meet again in court in 2-months.. . My questions are as follows:. . 1: Doesn't my Dad have the right to defend himself in court?. . 2: Does he HAVE to retain a lawyer because this is family court and not criminal/civil?. . 3: After this whole situation is over, can my Dad turn around and sue my uncle in small claims court for false allegations and for falsely filing a protective order against him? Assuming the judge rules that my Dad is NOT a threat to my Uncle or Grandma, which is what we are assuming is going to happen.
