  • J.P. Gonzalez-Sirgo is the founder of the Law Office of J.P. Gonzalez-Sirgo, P.A. located in the historic Douglas Entrance office complex in Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County, Florida. J.P. Gonzalez-Sirgo, P.A. takes pride in zealously representing those that have been wronged. Those injured as a result of wrongdoing. Insurance policyholders who sacrifice and work hard to make their premium payments and then find their claims delayed, ignored, lowballed, and/or denied when the need to file a claim becomes necessary, often in the midst of a tragic or catastrophic event. Our job is simply to hold Big Insurance true to the promises that they make in the insurance policies that they sell. Not a dollar more. And not a dollar less. Our mission is to hold wrongdoers accountable.

    Community Service

J.P. is a lifetime member of the Florida International University Alumni Association and a sustaining member of the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association. He served a three (3) year term as a Member and Chair of Grievance Committee "C" of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of the Florida Bar and is also a Volunteer Lawyer with Lawyers for Children America. J.P. is also an active member of the Coral Ga bles Chamber of Commerce.

    Personal

J.P. comes from humble beginnings. He was just a one year old when his parents arrived from Havana, Cuba to the United States in 1969. Growing up in Northwest Miami, he attended Comstock Elementary School, Kelsey L. Pharr Elementary School, and Allapattah Junior High School. Eventually, his family, which had grown to consist of his parents and four boys, settled in Hialeah, Florida. His parents owned their own business, cleaning office buildings and restaurants such as Flanigan's and retail stores including Kmart and the old McCrory's Department Store in downtown Miami. He often worked in the family business in the evenings and weekends.

J.P. is the oldest of the four brothers. In Hialeah, he attended Palm Springs Junior High School and graduated from Hialeah High School in 1986. While at Hialeah High he participated in the Diversified Cooperative Training work program. He held jobs at Bojangles and Wendy's fast food restaurants early in his high school days. He spent the last two years of high school working the 4pm-midnight shift at his Uncle's plastics factory in Hialeah.

After high school, he attended Miami-Dade Community College, North Campus, now known as Miami-Dade College and continued his education at Florida International University (FIU). In addition to working 30-40 hours a week as the night time dispatcher at City Gas Company while at FIU and carrying a full time student course schedule, he also served as the Sports Editor of his college paper and was a member of the Pre-Law Society. J.P. borrowed and worked his way through college, graduating with Honors from FIU in 1990 with a degree in Political Science.

After college he took a year off to work and save money. It was during this year that he worked as a claims adjuster at De La Torre Insurance Adjusters in Miami. J.P. handled hundreds of claims on behalf of several insurance companies.

In 1991 he went off to law school. Having been admitted to a number of law schools, J.P. chose Vanderbilt University School of Law, on a partial scholarship. Once again, he borrowed and worked his way through law school working as a Vanderbilt Reeve on campus. In his last year in law school J.P. worked at a prominent insurance defense law firm.

J.P. learned a great deal from the individuals that he worked with during his time in claims handling and at an insurance defense law firm. However, he realized that his heart was not in representing the Goliaths of the world. After reading Jay Foonberg's How to Start and Build a Law Practice, he turned down interviews with some of the best law firms in Miami. In 1994, borrowing from credit cards, he started his own law practice in Hialeah, Florida. In 1996, he moved his office to Coral Gables, Florida where it has grown and remains today. He also makes his home in Coral Gables with his wife, Lisa, who is a family law attorney and "our" cats (they are really her cats). From day one in his practice, it has been about representing the "Davids" of the world. And he has never looked back. The insight that he gained working as a claims adjuster and working for an insurance defense law firm now serve his clients in working towards a just resolution of their claims.

    Recognitions

J.P. has been certified as a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum is recognized as one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards, and settlements. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members. J.P. has also been awarded the "Superb" rating by Avvo. Avvo's Rating system helps people navigate the complex and confusing legal industry, including choosing the right lawyer - an incredibly important decision. The Avvo Rating system takes into consideration a lawyer's background, including years in practice, disciplinary history, professional achievements and industry recognition.

    Education and Bar Memberships

J.P. graduated with Honors from Florida International University in 1990 with a degree in Political Science and obtained his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1994. J.P. is a member of The Florida Bar since 1994 and has tried numerous cases to verdict, including both jury and non-jury trials. J.P. is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit.

You have to go and change it - the name does NOT change automatically.. . After you are married, you will need to take your marriage certificate (which proves that you were legally married) along with whatever other identifying documents your state requires and change your Social Security card, driver's license, and passport. You will need to let your employer, insurers, bank, credit card companies, etc know that your name has changed.. . Many wedding websites and magazines offer "change of name" kits that have checklists and resources that will tell you exactly how to go about changing your name. It's a pain and there's a lot of standing in line at the Social Security office and DMV and whatnot, but if you have all of your paperwork in order it isn't a difficult process.. . NOTE: If you are traveling abroad soon after your wedding, do NOT change your name until you get back. The name on your passport MUST match your legal name, and it can take up to six months to get a new passport. You can use your new name socially during your trip, but don't change your legal name until your return.

Is there a way to get your real name changed?

Currently I'm a security guard and while I do like the job I want to make it my fall back job. Basically what I'm going to be using on my first major career basis. While my main interests are in going into game development I'd like to also study something to be my day job career until I get good enough to continue in the gaming industry. I've been looking at various jobs and I'm not a good computer person to be doing one of the tech jobs. I'm more of a people person. I've been looking around at various jobs that would be good in today's market and have decided on Pharmacy Technician. I'm looking into Cal State San Marco's Pharmacy Technician Certification course. It'll run me $2000 and is a 300 hour (roughly 2 month) course. I'm just curious if that is enough to start as a pharmacy tech? If someone from the job field could talk to me about it and let me know the ins and outs. Throw off any of the glamor of the job, etc. on it..

Question about Word.?

Web Design is a very general term. There are many aspects involved in designing web sites, and I suggest researching what your school is offering.. . For example, some of the most common types of code used to create websites are HTML, XHTML, ASP, PHP, JavaScript, Flash, XML, and ColdFusion. Now, don't let that deter you from wanting to learn. Not every web designer knows all of these languages, and it isnt necessary either.. . Each type of language has its own method's for doing things. HTML is the most basic. You can use this alone to create a website. However, advanced features (pull down menus, forms, etc.) require knowledge beyond basic HTML. Does your school offer this in this class?. . Secondly, web design also requires graphics. There are places you can go and pay someone to make them for you, or you can learn them yourself. Granted, they are not a necessity, but make web-pages more aesthetically pleasing.

An eccentric contraction is when your muscle is working to contract but still lengthening. An example would be slowly lowering yourself when doing pullups, pushups, etc... Given you now know what it is try to come up with some other examples yourself.
