I received final divorce papers with an order to change my name back to my maiden name at the request of my ex husband. Does this order to restore my name mean that I HAVE to change it back, or that I CAN change it back if I want to? If I want to get re-married and I use my married last name, will it make the marriage void? I figured the way to legally change my name back would be to go to the social security office and file there, and until then my marriage name would stay my legal name but I want to be sure. I have so many documents with my married name that it would he a hassle to change it unless I were married again. I just want to make sure that the court order did not actually change my name, and I won't be running into legal issues with work, taxes, anything of a legal nature. Any and all information is appreciated. Thank you..

. If he has used your SS# then change all of your name. and make sure you have a police report that says he has stolen your identity. So you won't have any problems in the future. Make sure you sent this report to all credit burros. And have them put a security pass word or alert that means anyone trying to get info on you via a credit report will have to wait until they call you or contact you. Good luck I feel for you cant even trust family these day.
