  • The Davis Law Office handles family law issues for clients in Virginia Beach and throughout Tidewater Virginia, as well as the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I bring 18 years of experience to cases involving divorce, property division, child custody, child support, domestic violence and more.

I am trained in collaborative law and encourage my family law clients to consider this and other alternatives to litigation, which can be costly and emotionally draining. Ultimately, I strive to do what is best for those I represent based on their unique circumstances and goals.

My clients benefit from having an attorney who grew up in the area, built her law practice locally and knows the community. Prior to moving here with my family, my Marine Corps father’s career saw me living throughout the country. I attended seven elementary schools in six years. I have firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by military families, knowledge that has proven beneficial in the many military divorce cases I have handled.

On a personal level, I take pride in helping people inside the courtroom and out. Among my various community activities, I serve on the board of Samaritan House, a local nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence and homelessness.

Provide the name of your state and one can research your state law more thoroughly.

The main drawback we see in the Australian Health Care System of having GP's being the gateway to the health care system is more a function of the fee-for-service nature of the GP's work.. . If the GP's wish to earn more money per day, they have to see more patients per day.. . The way they see more patients per day is to spend fewer minutes with them.. . The bad GP's out there who are just out for a buck see 80 patients per day or so which cuts your time down to 10 patients per hour, or 6 minutes per patient.. . This is barely enough time to say Hi, work out what part of the body is diseased and to scribble a note for the patient to take to the hospital and get ready for the next patient.. . This is not so much a problem with having a GP->specialist arrangement as in the whole fee-for-service system.. . Drawbacks:. . In areas where the are few/no GP's the process of specialist referral is very slow (unable to go direct to a specialist but must see their GP who is likely to be booked out and cannot see them for some time)

Your name change isn't official until you've changed it through SS. Change your name with your employer when you have your new card, as they will probably need a copy for your employment records and I-9. You can use your married name, but be careful booking travel or honeymoon in your married name because it won't match your ID. Additionally, you may have to wait for your marriage license from the state you are married in. Some cc companies or other entities may require a copy of your marriage license before they will change your name. As for insurance, discuss with them before you get married the implications to your policies once you are married. For auto insurance, they may actually raise your rates because there is a 2nd driver for your car (even if your husband has his own insurance and car) and they will check your spouse's driving record. You may want to hold off notifying them of the actual marriage until you can afford the change in premium.

I'm 15, and want to change my name because "they" messed it up when I came into this country, and it's some weird shit I don't even know. So, my mom's on board with the idea. What would we have to do, and how much (approx) would the fee(s) be? Thanks..

So, here's the deal. My grandfather once to leave my sisters and I one of his houses. The reason being is because we always lived in it and my parents always paid the mortgage and kept the house nice. Now, here's the thing. He wants me to go to staples or some store like that to buy one of the legal forms so that the house will be left to me and my sisters only. I am not really sure if its the Last Will and Testament forms are the correct one's. Also, it gets tricky because my grandpa is really stubborn and he has other property like another home he owns but he doesn't want to create a will for the rest of the stuff because he rather everything else go into probate and be split among his children.. . So without getting all of his other property involved, how do he leave one of his homes to my sisters and I. I need specific directions.
