have a hospital bill that went to collections. I sent a letter to them detailing how much I'd be willing to pay monthly. I sent the a check in that amount. The second month I sent them another check iwth that amount. However today they sent me a letter telling me I haven't sent there money yet. THowever the check I sent them this month has been cashed. They are threatening legal action. is there anything they can actually do.. Update: why would they go through the trouble of suing me if I am paying them? That makes no sense especially since I'm unemployed and how no assets whatsoever? Serious replies only Thanks..

I'm selling my car in Nebraska and I've been doing some research. I know you don't need an official bill of sales, but I got a template from the Nebraska DMV website anyway. In the past I've done it on notebook paper! But on the template form there's a box for a public notary to sign off on the sale. Seeing that got me worried so I did a little more research. In a list of things to include on the Bill of Sales it does say to include a notary, but is this mandatory or just optional? I've bought 2 used cars from private owners in the last 5 years, the last one was about 2 years ago, and have never had to do this before..

Truth be told, it's best if your husband handles this. Fact of the matter is that he can submit a pay inquiry (DA form 2142) to get this rectified or go see the Finance section and get it fixed. And since it has been 2 months already, and if finance continues to d**k him around, he can always seek IG's help.. . Now, if you have the appropriate paperwork (marriage license, DEERS enrollment, deployment orders, general/special power of attorney), then you can contact your local base's Finance Office and based on what they tell you - you may end up faxing or emailing the appropriate paperwork to them.. . As for pay, along with it being tax free, your husband should receive Family Separation Pay (this one starts 30 days after being deployed), Danger Pay, Hazardous Duty Pay, BAS (for food), and BAH. All this should have been handled once he flew in theater (probably Kuwait) so for it not to have taken effect yet is inexcusable.. . When I deployed I had all my appropriate allowances by the end of the month (two weeks later and with the exception of Family Sep).. . And yes, all the allowances will be retroactive to the date he arrived in theater (again, Kuwait).
