When you create a word document, you should save it as a file on a disk so that you can work on it in the future. You must also save all the changes that you make in a document to update it. If you?re saving the document for the first time, Word displays the Save As dialog box and temporarily names the document Doc followed by a number. To close a document, press CTRL+F4.
