I am not sure how it might effect you and your practice as a social worker because it affects people who are on medicaid if they have any resources. It is important for the clients to know that if they have resources that are not easy to liquidate, like a house the government will out a claim on their property in order to recover their expenses.. . There are a lot of rules to know like trusts, estate planning, and how to correctly set it. You might need to be aware of that and know the resources where to refer people for legal advice. Usually they are explained medicaid program requirements at the time they apply.. . You can do more research about medicaid service programs. Also the Estate Receovery office of your state can provide you a lot of information.
